Five cars out, three remain...
The 1984 Corvette PPG Pace Car, however, has fared worse than the other cars removed so far (watch a video of the removal below). The one-off vehicle was, as the museum put it, "karate chopped" by a slab of concrete on the way down into the pit; rear panels have been completely separated from the rest of the body. The front fascia appears to have been ripped off as well, and it's hard to spot a body panel that doesn't bear some cracking or denting.
Still, there's nothing that can't be restored given adequate resources.

I'd say they should leave it as-is. Restore the rest of them, but keep this one as a reminder of what happened. It would be more noteworthy like that than if they went through the very expensive process of restoring it to "no longer original" status.

I disagree on this one, this was an acutal one-off car. Let the 62 Corvette stay gross, let the millionth car stay trashed, but this one, originality doesn't matter as much.

OH WAIT.
I see what you mean. I thought this was just a generic 1984 Corvette pace car, aka, production with some stickers on it. This is it before the wreck, right?
If that's the case, yeah, restore that baby. That's beautiful.

The cars will be on display for a short while in "as-is" condition as a reminder of both what the cars used to be and for the triumph of recovering them from the sinkhole.
Unfortunately, most of the eight vehicles are practically one-offs (you could only have 1 Millionth, 1 1.5 millionth, and so on) so restoring them to any degree will destroy their original status.
Yet, at the same time I feel that leaving them in this condition is kinda-sorta wrong.
I'd say the best plan of action is what they're doing. Display the cars in their wrecked condition, restore them, then document the events that took place as a reminder of what the cars went through.

I haven't seen that photo yet...That's just cringe-worthy...I can't fathom what the others look like under the rubble.
